Since 2015, Eva Michielin has been working with refugees from Syria, supporting them at setting foot in Germany and building their future. Her most laborious and intensive program certainly is the “Projekt Morgenland”, a syrian restaurant in Horb am Neckar.

The painting “Die Fischfrau” was painted on the base of a work by the artists mother, Nina Michielin - the mother, who taught her to always step in for the weak and to help them. This way the painting is a memorial to her mother, yet also a call to everyone to take care of “strangers” and to support them. A call to meet them with kindness and devotion instead of fear and rejection.
